,When you are picking a hosting server for website projects it can be a bit stressful. There are tons of options out there. Some for only pennies a month and some more expensive options.

Hosting sites throw out terms like SSL and VPS and other acronyms that can make any non-tech person’s head spin. So I want to help you navigate through those terms.

I want to start with who this blog post is really for. If you are on my website reading this, you are most likely a small business.

You have had consistent clients or visitors on your site and you want to grow that audience.

Speed

Let’s start with the speed of services. I lot of cheap services you can buy like; Godaddy, Fatcow, HostGator, etc. They have a cheap monthly fee because they are shared hosting servers.

This means that your website is sharing space with a bunch of other websites and if any of them get hacked or overload, your site can potentially go down or slow tf down as well.

Now there are great shared hosting plans and hosting providers do a lot of work and preparation to make sure that your site stays up as much as possible, but remember you are not the most important site they may be hosting at the time.

If you want the best speed, less down-time and best service VPS (or private servers) is exactly what you need.

Reliability

Uptime and loadability are key factors for picking a hosting server for website projects.

The cheaper hosting providers have terms that the sites will stay live 98%-99.85% of the time, these are just some details on the fine print to keep track of.

When I pick hosts for myself and my clients I take a hard look at what other people are saying about uptime and if they had any problems in reviews.

Customer Service

When you are having a problem with your website or let’s say your website does go down, you want to be able to jump on to chat support or even call in to get your issue fixed right away.

Almost all hosting companies offer chat support of some kind. Some have normal business hours and some offer 24/7 chat support.

When you are looking for a hosting server for website services customer service is a must-have.

My recommendation

After many years of working with dozens of different hosting companies, my favorite is DreamHost. They offer different plans that support business websites with exactly what they need.

If you only have one Domain using WordPress they have an amazing DreamPress package that supports WordPress right out of the box.

They also have a brilliant VPS package if you want to grow and scale your business.

DreamHost does have a few flaws, they do not offer 24/7 chat support but, chat support runs during your business hours.

If you need more help deciding what hosting service is right for your business, please leave me a message or reach out. I would love to help you find the right solution.
